Analytical method for Sodium

Sodium content in Sodium Bicarbonate.

Based on the NaHCO3-content the Na content is calculated.
The sodium content, as percentage by mass, is given by the formula:

Na (%) = NaHCO3 (%) x 22,99 / 8

Sodium content in Sodium Chloride.

1) Based on the NaCl-content the Na content is calculated.
The sodium content, as percentage by mass, is given by the formula:

Na (%) = NaCl (%) x 23 / 58.5
NaCl (%) = [100 - H2O – Ca - Mg – SO4 – insolubles] (%)

2) Based on the Cl content (determination of Cl according to ISO 2481 or 6227) the Na content is calculated.
Na (%) = Cl (%) x 0.648

Sodium content in Sodium Chloride.

1) Based on the NaCl-content the Na content is calculated.
The sodium content, as percentage by mass, is given by the formula:

Na (%) = NaCl (%) x 23 / 58.5
NaCl (%) = [100 - H2O – Ca - Mg – SO4 – insolubles] (%)

2) Based on the Cl content (determination of Cl according to ISO 2481 or 6227) the Na content is calculated.
Na (%) = Cl (%) x 0.648
